Inspiring Winter 2012

I feel like I'm always a season behind.
Its hard this 'designing' thing, having to come up with all the ideas, create prints, create patterns, test patterns, buy material, make the stock.... cook, clean, wipe grubby faces, race cars down a ramp, change nappies... I often get asked where I find the time to do this with a 2.5 and a 1 year old.
And I think that is why I am so behind.

Slowly but surely I am maybe catching up with myself, I started designing the winter line 2 weeks into the new year and now my stock is bought, the blanks and my material have been ordered and are on their way, the prints have been finalised and I have tested all my patterns.

Ideally I would like to launch all my new goodies at the start of March, but I just don't think thats going to happen, but am prepared for an early start to next year. Its weird you know, designing winter stuff in the high 20 degree sunny hot never ending summer. Already mid-Feb I notice no one is keen to buy summer clothes, and yet summer feels like it has only just begun!

So once the stock arrives, the printers do their magic, and I get a start on my sewing, comes photographing the clothes, both by themselves and with the kids. That is always a HUGE job, and working with little kiddies to get good photos, is HARD. They are crazy, do what they want, and don't like to get changed multiple times, we are doing a test shoot tomorrow, looking at locations and seeing how the clothes look in the space. Exciting, but it sounds way easier than the actual practice!

Heres a photo I found on http://www.smudgetikka.com/ I like the overall feel of winter and it makes me excited for a fresh start to Winter 2012!
